Mini Marvels
Tuesday, 26 May 2009
The P5s rounded off an excellent season with another festival
trophy, this time winning their own festival at Ardecaple. Blessed with
sunny weather the festival was a great success with 31 teams from 8
different clubs at different age groups taking part.
The P5s opened their account with a straight forward 10-1 victory
over Clydebank/Loch Lomond and 9-4 Vs Birkmyre to win their group. The
semi finals produced a tougher challenge with Cartha Queens Park
fielding a very large pack. Sound defence produced another victory of
9-4. The final was against Uddingston who had beaten an understrength
P5 team only 2 weeks ago. With a full squad available there was no
mistake this time and Burgh produced their best rugby of the season
spinning the ball wide and winning the breakdown battle. The final
score was 10-0 to Burgh and rounded off another really successful
season for the team. They broke new ground this year by venturing over
the Irish sea to play teams from Ulster on the mini sections first ever
tour. The record for the season stands at P46, W36, D2, L8.
